Joan Colom (Barcelona, 1921-2017). Spanish National Award of Photography in 2002. In 1961 he has his first solo show El carrer at Sala Aixelà and one year later he publishes his famous series of the Barrio Chino in Barcelona with AFAL (Vanguard movement from Almería). Working with a Leica M2 and a wide angle lens he shoots from the hip, without framing nor focussing. In 1964 the controversial photobook Izas, rabizas y colipoterras is published with text by Camilo José Cela. Since the 90's he is fully dedicated to color work. In 2012 his entire archive is taken care of by the MNAC of Barcelona (Catalonian National Museum) and Colom is being dedicated a huge retrospective show in 2014.
